Dean Shelton is a native of Arkansas and moved to Tennessee in 1971. He earned a degree from Arkansas Tech in Design and worked as a freelance illustrator for over 30 years. Even though his schedule was very full, anytime he had a break he would paint. This earned him several awards in comptitions. In 2002, he began to break away from illustration and move into fine arts. Dean maintained a studio at the Factory in Franklin for two years, but recently moved to a studio in his home.
